I never imagined I'd see the day when I was running my own business, let alone starting one during our current global COVID environment.
It was moving back to London from Hong Kong that sealed my fate and it happened so organically. We rented an empty house in London and needed to furnish it and so began my hunt for beautiful vintage, retro and mid century furniture treasures.
I found them, plenty of them and I filled our home with all sorts of trinkets. Then, I changed my mind and started selling and redecorating, rinse and repeat and you get the drift.
At a time when we're restricted travelling and spending more and more time at home, our home environment is so important and I saw FME Furniture blossom, boosted by local buyers around the Borough of Hackney, where I'm based going as far north as Edinburgh and down South to the coastal regions.
Starting my instagram account @it_is_fme really saw my sales take off and as I'm originally from Sydney, Australia and I sensed there will be a day that we return home, I wanted to position an arm of my business, there.
So here we are, the first day of September and I have a shipping container arriving in Sydney in November 2020 filled with all the vintage, retro and mid century furniture and home decorative items that I usually sell in London.
This website was set up to cater towards each project, projects being per shiping container. The prices you see will include delivery to a designated spot in Sydney (Chatswood) and then collection would be required from there at the buyer's expense.
It's mostly British & Scandinavian vintage furniture and home furnishings and I stock popular brands such as G Plan, Mcintosh, Nathan furniture, Ladderax, Danish daybed sofas, Parker Knoll and all are beautiful teak wood.
I am planning to send vintage mid century teak extending dining tables and chairs, nest of tables, cane and bamboo furniture, wool rugs, chest of drawers, Danish paper cord dining chairs, Danish sofa daybeds, leather armchairs, Scandinavian armchairs, mirrors, Ladderax, telephone seat tables - literally anything, just request it!
